The Concord Friends of the Library is an active organization dedicated to bringing diverse programs to the patrons of the library while providing visual and literary experiences.

"Let's Talk About It" Reading and Discussion Series.
Participants read a total of 5 books based on a single topic and every two weeks participate in a scholar-led discussion group to talk about one of the books in the series.  This program is sponsored by the Cabarrus County Public Library and the Concord Friends of the Library.

Deana Irvin Author's Symposium.
A nationally recognized author is invited each year.

One Book, One Community--Cabarrus Reads
Through reading a story and through participation at informative and interactive programs hosted by each of Cabarrus County's four public branch locations, readers will come to appreciate and admire characters of the literary selection for the county-wide community read.  The 2010/2011 OBOC program will feature the book "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien.

Throughout the year Friends sponsor author visits and artistic performances free to the public.
